how to do the correct plank

1. Take a position

To do the plank well, keep your body in the correct position. Abdomen facing the floor, start with straight arms and then put your hands down in line with your shoulders. Then, lower your arms so they are resting on your elbows. Keep your arms at a 90 degree angle and your elbows below and in line with your shoulders.

2. Engage your stomach

Once in the right position, your arms and legs won't be the only parts of your body working to maintain your position. Mercer said, you have to move the abdominal muscles. The trick is to pull your stomach in with your back muscles. This movement will help reduce the pressure you feel at the bottom.

3. Press the glute

Another body part that cannot be ignored when doing a plank is the glute. The glutes are known as the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gliuteus minimus or in other words, the muscles of the buttocks. While in the plank position, Mercer recommends "squeezing" your butt muscles. You don't want to raise your hips too high. It's a very common mistake when planking.

4. Focus on breathing

when doing strenuous activities, sometimes making you gasp for breath. But don't do it when the board. You need to catch your breath properly while in the plank position. "Focus on breathing to control your heart rate and make sure your muscles are working," Mercer was quoted as saying by The Independent.

5. Increase the duration

of the board regularly It's not easy to stay in a plank position, especially if you don't. You will need time to increase the duration of your board. Because of this, Mercer held the board for 30 seconds during the first practice.
